The Enchanted City — one of the sponsors of the Troy Mini Maker Faire — is a steampunk festival with faerie flare, featuring cosplayers, a fashion show, culinary competition, live theater, storytellers and music. Its mission is to celebrate the industrial heritage and creative spirit of Troy’s, past, present, and future.
Now in its third year, The Enchanted City, will take place right next to the Mini Maker Faire on August 27 from 11 am to 6 pm. In 2015, the festival drew 4,000 to mingle with the costumed characters and explore the shops and restaurants in downtown Troy, and this year’s crowd should be even bigger! Both events are free and open to the public.
The Enchanted City is the brainchild of Susan Dunckel, owner of Sweet Sue’s, located at 203 River Street, and a staunch supporter of the Maker Movement. The popularity of Makers’ Row and the Inventors’ Challenge at The Enchanted City inspired her to add a full-blown Mini Maker Faire to the festivities. Be sure to check out The Enchanted City when you come to the Troy Mini Maker Faire!
